(Architect)
Frank, dreamy and eclectic, her spirit brings together the flavours and colours of the Global South—known, loved and experienced first-hand—with the taste and forms of the West, rich in tradition, open and in constant motion. From this fusion stems an inexhaustible curiosity, a continuous search for materials, forms and structures, spanning present, past and future.
She is an architect, designer, art director and interior designer. She has curated numerous exhibitions and installations worldwide. In 1983, she won the International Design Award in Osaka; in 2000, she was named Designer of the Year by the German magazine Architektur & Wohnen; and in 2011, she won two Elle Deco International Design Awards. In 2014, Interior Design Magazine honoured her with induction into the prestigious Design Hall of Fame. In 2018, she received her third Elle Deco International Design Award in the outdoor furniture category.
