(Architect)
Massimo Iosa Ghini (Bologna, 1959) is an architect, graduated from the Politecnico di Milano. Since 1985, he has been active within the Italian design avant-garde as the founder of the Bolidismo group and as a member of the Memphis movement alongside Ettore Sottsass.
His professional career spans design, commercial and museum architecture, the design of public transport spaces and infrastructures, as well as the development of retail chains worldwide, working with major international groups such as Ferrari, Capital Group, IBM Italia, CMC Group Miami, Seat Pagine Gialle, Alitalia, among many others.
His design and architectural projects have received significant recognition, including nominations for the ADI Compasso d’Oro, as well as numerous international awards such as the Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum, the Red Dot Award and the iF Product Design Award (Germany), the Roscoe Award (USA), the IAI Award – Green Design Global Award, and the IAI Awards in Shanghai, China.
In 2013, the Triennale di Milano dedicated a comprehensive retrospective to his 30-year professional career, from his early works to his contemporary sustainable approach; the exhibition was later presented in 2014 at MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna. In 2015, one of his retail concepts, KIKO MILANO, won the Best Retail Global Expansion category at MAPIC 2014. On 25 April 2015, the Fondazione Marconi and the Marconi Institute for Creativity awarded him the Marconi Prize for Creativity, recognising his outstanding creative vision.
