Marcello Morandini

(Architect)

Born in Mantua in 1940, he is one of the leading exponents of Concrete Art in Europe. He began his career in 1964 and, during the 1960s and 1970s, exhibited at the 9th São Paulo Biennial (1967), the 34th Venice Biennale (1968), and Documenta 6 in Kassel (1977).

In the 1980s, he collaborated with architectural practices in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, while from 1984 onwards his solo exhibitions were held in museums in Tokyo, Bochum, Verona, Darmstadt, Mannheim and Helsinki. Since 1995, he has taught art and design in Salzburg, at ECAL Lausanne, and at the Accademia di Brera in Milan. He is an Honorary Member of the Royal Society of Arts in London.

In 2008–2009, major solo exhibitions were presented at Ca’ Pesaro Museum in Venice and the Neues Museum in Nuremberg. In 2014, he focused on curating two significant solo exhibitions at the National Museum in Bayreuth, Germany, and at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome.
